1 in 4 Virginia homes have high levels of Radon. Do you know your homes’ level?

What is radon?

Radon, a.k.a "the silent killer,” is a naturally occurring radioactive gas that is odorless, tasteless, can accumulate in homes and cause cancer. The number of annual deaths attributed to radon lung cancer exceeds the number of alcohol impaired driving fatalities and home fire fatalities… combined.

How do I know my homes’ radon level?

The only way to know your homes’ level is by testing. The U.S. Surgeon General, Environmental Protection Agency, Virginia Department of Health, American Lung Association and many others recommend testing every home and apartment for radon.

Professional testing options:

  • Short-term tests: Provide a snapshot in time but may not provide an accurate representation of annual radon exposure due to the fact that radon levels fluctuate.

  • Long-term tests: Provide more accurate representation of annual radon exposure levels but leaves families waiting until the test is completed to obtain results and then evaluate making a radon mitigation decision.

  • Continuous long-term monitoring: Provides the most comprehensive testing solution by enabling real-time radon measurements, 24 hours a day / 365 days a year, allowing families to make radon mitigation decisions at any time.

Our Approach

We specialize in providing continuous long-term radon monitoring to ensure families are able to make accurate and informed decisions related to the health risks posed by indoor radon levels. We adhere to the Virginia Department of Health’s guidance which discourages the same company performing both radon testing and mitigation due to potential conflicts of interest. Our radon consultation services includes providing assistance with contacting reputable, certified radon mitigation service providers when needed.

"I was so mad. How is it possible that I wasn't aware of radon … a silent and invisible threat that can give rise to serious health issues when you least expect it to pose any danger?"
